Eye-Catching Beauty Tips: Hair & Makeup
Here are a few steps in order to find the best beauty team for your next special event. First of all you need to figure out what look you are going for. Research is the name of the game. Look for inspiration on the internet, in magazines and on the streets. Keep a folder of your favourite pictures. If you need to grow your hair long, make sure that you have enough time to do so before the event.
Start keeping a list of stylists. If you see someone with nice hair or makeup, ask them for their stylists contact information or makeup brand. Locate local makeup artists by getting referrals.
Pick a few hairstylists and make-up artists and go and meet them. Ask to see their portfolio, if their style matches your photos great, if not keep looking. Top contenders, book a hair and makeup trial; bring some of your friends or bridesmaids for a second opinion. Remember if you are looking for a stylist for a Wedding in particular and have a veil or accessories bring them with you to your trial. When you decide on the stylists, book them for the day of your event. Be clear and precise, double check the time and date.
Here are a few tips on choosing your special event hairstyle:
Hair up: Focus is on jewelery, shoulders, and neckline or if you plan to do lots of dancing. Up do is usually harder to do so make sure you have a trained stylist.
Hair Down: If it’s down go for volume and texture – you could even add some extensions or a hair piece. If you want to show your beautiful face, it’s a good idea to tie a bit of your hair back.
Short Hair: If you have short hair a simple accessory would complete the look.
Here are a few tips on applying your makeup for the special event:
For photo’s: Apply your chosen eye shadows, eyeliner & mascara a lot darker than you would normally do so that your makeup will be seen in the photo’s.
Foundation: Apply your foundation evenly in a downward manner all over your face – we all have tiny facial hair and if you smooth your foundation upwards you will be pushing the little hairs up which will make you look like a fuzzy peach.
Lipstick: To help your lipstick to stay on longer first apply a thin layer of lipbalm, then if you are using a lip liner gently shade in your entire lip, and then apply your lipstick. It’s also a good idea to add a little gloss on the pout of your lips to draw attention to the centre of your lips.
