EBE’s Top 5 Road Trip Essentials

Happy September long!

As most of the city is packing their bags and heading out to the lake or even long-driving across the border for some retail therapy – the rest of us is getting all dolled up for some weekend wedding festivities.

This long weekend the EBE team is hard at work with two back-to-back weddings and we CANNOT wait to bring these events to life!

As much as we love planning these extravagant summer events, September long is a subtle reminder the summer days will soon slowly fade away — which means we don’t have much time left to hit the beach and picnic tables. So for those of you who are getting away — cherish each moment, safe travels and be sure to double-check your packing list.

Here are EBE’s Top Five Road Trip Essentials:

1. Decorative Pillow – A definite must-have for comfort, especially during those long hours on the road. | 2. Magazines – Nothing beats a peaceful drive and some of your favourite magazines. | 3. Spare Keys – This one is key (you see what we did there?). The last thing you want to do is leave yourself stranded on a lonely highway.  | 4. iPad –  If napping isn’t your thing, you can always watch a movie, OR maybe even browse your favourite websites. | 5. Snacks – And of course, in order to maintain your energy for the adventures that await you at your destination, bring something (or a few things) to munch on.

Have fun!

Fall 2013 Colour Trends

As much as we love our bright and blissful summer days, we can’t wait for the Fall Colour Trends to kick in.

This autumn season welcomes a new range of rich and versatile hues that work great with the key staple neutrals.

Based on Pantone’s Fashion Colour Report 2013, the top 10 colours this fall are:

1. Emerald, PANTONE 17-5641
2. Lindon Green, PANTONE 18-4434
3. Mykonos Blue, PANTONNE 15-0533
4. Acai, PANTONE 19-3628
5. Samba, PANTONE 19-1662
6. Koi, PANTONE 17-1452
7. Deep Lichen Green, PANTONE 18-0312
8. Vivacious, PANTONE 19-2045
9. Turbulence, PANTONE 19-4215
10. Carafe. PANTONE 19-1116

If you’re having a hard time committing to one specific colour for your fall event,  not to worry! Colour-blocking is still a prominent trend this season, and incorporating a number of lush contrasting colours can work to your advantage – creating a unique, vivid and lavish colour palette for your event.

Check out below to see how EBE used a number of this season’s colour trends to create an elegant and exclusive look.

The reception lounge over-looking the beautiful Wascana Lake and park.

The EBE team spent the beautiful weekend in Regina, SK, for Chantel and Andrew’s summer wedding. Their venue was a perfect fit for their modern tented wedding, and was located right in the centre of the city in the breath-taking Wascana Park.

Our team had so much fun transforming the beautiful space into Chantel and Andrew’s dream wedding. With the celebration catering for a smaller party, we also had more time and resources to play around with the little details of the decor (e.g. how comfy does their reception lounge look!).

Some of our favourite details of the wedding can be seen below. We can’t wait to share more photos of their big day. Check back soon!

Instead of a traditional guest book, they asked their guests to sign a customized wine bottle they would share on their 1 year anniversary. They also included wine bottles for their 5th, 10th and 20th as well. Cute!

We loved how the single orchid arranged in the napkins brought our table design’s together.

Go Anywhere – Folklorama 2013

Emma, Christina (intern from Germany) and Melissa (Event Coordinator) with our good friend Folklorama Ilama

For our clients, booking entertainment can often be tricky and even overwhelming.

It can get a bit nerve-wrecking booking a live band or artist you’re not completely sure of. But once you do find the perfect entertainment fit for your event, it can really enhance your guests experience and can help fill in the lag time in-between meals or transitions in your program — keeping your guest engaged and happy!

EBE works closely with Folklorama Talent through out the year to book professional and unique entertainment for our cultural events. When our clients are looking for fresh and exceptional performers, we turn to our preferred entertainment vendor Folklorama.

With Week #2 of Folklorama taking place now in our city, we were fortunate enough to be invited to the VIP Mystery Tour this Tuesday for a fourth year in a row.

Enjoy a few of our photos from the fun evening:

We were treated with a delicious Chinese dinner while enjoying some beautiful ethnic dancing.

Amazing set from the Walking Wolf singers and dancers — an EBE favourite for traditional First Nations entertainment

If you have yet to visit a Pavilion this year, why not call up your family and friends and schedule a date night? Enjoy some delicious ethnic cuisine, unique entertainment and since it is the last day it should be one heck of a party!

On the Road…

on the road

A few members of the EBE team is hitting the road and taking off to Regina, SK, for a romantic outdoor wedding in the city.

Lucky for them the weather is looking absolutely beautiful. The remaining staff in the office wish them the best of luck in Regina. And we look forward to sharing pictures of the decor and design of the big day and maybe even behind-the-scene photos of the EBE road trip.

Have a great weekend!

EBE Staff Summer Get-Together

Our EBE team road in comfort in the very stylish Special VIP Bus from Hollywood Limousine

This year’s wedding season is keeping us BUSY with some beautiful and unique weddings. It’s been an absolute pleasure to work with all our brides, grooms and families this season, and we’re so grateful to be part of their special day.

In the midst of our busy schedule, we found time to take the evening off and enjoy some summer fun around Winnipeg for an EBE summer staff get-together.

To kick it off, our team met at the office and was picked up from the very stylish Special VIP Bus from Hollywood Limousine and headed to Winnipeg’s Exchange District for drinks and dinner at Fox & Fiddle

Thank you to Chocolate Zen Bakery for these delicious treats!

After our delicious dinner, the VIP bus took EBE to Academy Bowling Lanes where we were greeted with a very sweet surprise from Chocolate Zen Bakery. The treats kept us going during a few friendly games of glow blowing through out the night.

As our clients know, we at EBE love to keep things interesting so we decided to add our own special EBE twist to the 5-pin game.

Next time bowling with your family and friends, try these fun challenges:
1. Bowling with your opposite hand (e.g. right-handed individuals bowl with your left)
2. Bowling backwards AND in-between your feet
3. Bowling while laying flat on the ground
4. AND one of our favourities! – Bowling in-between all of your team members

EBE is sad to say goodbye to our Summer Intern from Germany Christina and Event & Design Coordinator Holly (both with the beautiful flower bouquets from Fache Floral Designs) who will be moving on from Events by Emma.

10 Questions to Kick-Start the Planning

Photography: Moore Photography and Rebecca Croft Photographer

August is finally here, which means planning for 2014 events is beginning in full swing at Events by Emma!

Emma and the team are now booking first-time consultations with their corporate clients and brides-to-be to get started on planning their special day in the new year.

We know first-hand the beginning of the planning process can appear overwhelming. Our job is to take the load off you, and ensure planning your event is as stress-free and as cost-effective as possible. After all, planning your event should be a FUN experience.

Get a head start with the planning by considering these important questions before meeting with Emma:
1. What style of event do you want?
2. Do you have a preferred location for the event?
3. What does your budget look like?
4. Do you have a colour palette in mind?
5. What do you envision for decor? Perhaps, draping? Linens? Seat covers?
6. Are you incorporating any unique elements?
7. Do you want to book a live band or DJ for your guests?
8. How about additional entertainment?
9. What time of day will your program take place?
10. Are there any MUST-HAVES for your event?
