WEDDING WEDNESDAYS – Shannon & Christian

What would you do if you discovered your soon-to-be fiance’s intention to propose, before he had the opportunity to pop the big question?

Shannon, opened a wrapped gift under the Christmas tree from Christian, thinking he just forgot to gift it to her on Christmas Day. While flipping through the brand new journal her love gifted her, she saw his marriage proposal in ink.

Surprised, she quickly re-wrapped the present and later during a romantic New Years vacation, Christian pulled out the wrapped journal and asked her to open it. Shannon lovingly acted surprised and thrilled, but later confesses of what really happened.

Their genuine love and affection for one another was incredible, and we were so thrilled to gift the couple with their dream wedding!

We won the “Inspired Wedding” prize package at the Wonderful Wedding Show so we ended up winning Events by Emma as our wedding coordinator and they helped make our décor wishes come true! Emma and her team welcomed all our ideas and brought our vision to life with all the décor and details!

Wonderful Wedding Show 2014

At Events by Emma, our goal is to turn YOUR event concept into reality. No matter how complex or unique your vision is, we make it happen.

But if you think these beautiful and extravagant events happen overnight, think again. Our event process takes time and attention, but without it, we couldn’t do what we do.

Take this year’s Wonderful Wedding Show booth for example. We started planning the design of our booth with just some simple brainstorming. Finding ideas and inspirations in photos, stationary, and linens that got us excited, and that reflected our brand.

IMG_2338
Once we determined the look and feel of our booth, we had one of our designers sketch a final floor plan, paying attention to the little details we wanted to emphasize.

01261301From there, we partnered with some of our amazing vendors and shared with them our vision of our booth. With their help, we were able to pull what we needed to complete the look and feel of our booth.

Days leading to the event… this is when all the magic happens. Our senior staff and event crew works together with our wonderful vendors to transform the concept into reality. With a truck full of decor and furniture, and a staff that is known for their keen attention to detail… we get it done! And the end result is definitely worth it!

POST-WEDDING SHOW CHECKLIST

0037

So you attended the Wonderful Wedding Show last weekend, caught the fun fashion show, ate a little tad bit too many free dessert samples, and now you’re left with a big bulky bag of “stuff.” Now what?

Instead of tossing everything out into your recycling bin, take advantage of all the new contacts you made. Believe it or not, but all that “stuff” you picked up at the Wedding Show can be put to good use, and help guide you towards the right direction when planning out all the big and little details of your big day.

Wither your wedding date is two years or eight months from now, our five step Post-Wedding Show checklist can help you get on the right track and straight into the aisle.

1. ORGANIZE YOUR “STUFF”
All the brochures, promotional pamphlets and business cards you collected can all have its purpose in the planning process. You never know when you have to rebook a suddenly unavailable photographer or florists. So instead of throwing it all out, take a three-ring binder and some dividers and create your own personal “Wedding Directory.” You can organize it by service type and then by alphabetically, similar to the yellow pages.

Details-4
2. REVIEW AND BOOK

Now that your easy-to-use Wedding Directory is complete, start reviewing the binder and reading over the promotional material. Take notes of those vendors and suppliers that sparked your interest at the show, and if you haven’t already called or emailed them to book a consultation and visit to their showroom/office, do so QUICK. Remember, you weren’t the only bride at the Wedding Show, so chances are their calendars are booking fast — so if you liked them, be sure to reach out to them fast.

3. BOOK IN THREES
When booking vendors for our couples, we like to book in threes. As you saw at the Wonderful Wedding Show, the wedding industry is HUGE and it’s important to be aware of your options. So instead of booking meetings with just one florist/cake artist/band and calling it a day… meet and request quotes from at least three different vendors per service. In that case, you can compare price points, range of service and overall feel. You’ll be better equipped to make the right decision, without doubt.

0122

4.  FOLLOW-UP
Once you and your hubby-to-be has decided on which vendors and suppliers to use for all your wedding details, be sure to follow-up and confirm reservations with everyone. It’s important to get a contract or confirmation of booking in writing or email to refer to in the future. Be sure to double-check your wedding date and contact information on the contracts are correct. The last thing you want is your photographer to show up on the wrong day. Also, be sure to follow-up with everyone the week of your wedding to advise them of any special requests or to just confirm they have all the information they need.

5. ENJOY
Last but not least, sit back and ENJOY each moment. The goal is you only plan your wedding once in your lifetime, so take it all in and try not to let the stress get to you. At the end of the day, you’re marrying the love of your life and really, that’s all you’ll need to live happily ever after.

TEN MUST-DO’s FOR ATTENDING BRIDAL SHOWS

15

Our team at Events by Emma can definitely attest that ‘love’ is surely in the air during the holiday season and even post holiday season. The number of calls and email inquiries from from newly engaged soon-to-be brides and grooms this time of year is proof enough.

According to TheKnot.com, more than three thirds of proposals take place during the holiday season, a time when newly engaged couples are already surrounded with family and friends to share the exciting news. In result, January is well-known as  “Wedding Planning Season,” which explains why a majority of bridal shows take place shortly after the new year.

The Wonderful Wedding Show, taking place this weekend on January 18 to 19, 2014, at the RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg, includes over 300 booths and 100,000 square feet showcasing the newest wedding trends, fashion, and ideas. Attending the wedding show definitely has it’s perks, from getting serious planning done in a matter of a day, special discounts and deals from vendors, and the chance of winning exclusive prizes (e.g.  our Events by Emma exclusive Dream Stage Give-away).

If you’re interested in truly taking advantage of the wedding show and all of what it has to offer, follow these ten must-do’s for attending a bridal show:

1. DO YOUR RESEARCH
Before even attending the show, check out the list of exhibitors attending the show and do some background research on those vendors that catch your eye. Read through their websites and take a good look through their photo galleries and past work. There are over 300 vendors, and chances are you most likely won’t have the time (or energy) to visit all of them. Narrow down your top potential vendors who you plan on visiting and stick to them.

2. MAKE AN ITENINARY AND CHECK-LIST
We know first-hand the key to a successful day is a detailed and organized itinerary. Plan your day in advance and set goals for yourself and your bridal party. There’s no harm in scheduling specified times you wish to see certain booths. Maybe the first hour you want to focus on dresses, where the second hour you want to shop around for cake quotes. The more you plan, the less you’ll feel overwhelmed.

3. PRE-REGISTER AND ARRIVE EARLY
Remember, you’re not the only bride that got engaged this holiday season! Purchase your tickets in advance and pre-register to take advantage of early entrance and avoid the long lines. You’ll also be able to meet with vendors and chat with them before the crowd comes along.

4. PREPARE CONTACT LABELS
Save a ton of time by preparing your own personal contact labels for service inquiry forms and contest ballots.  Include you and your groom’s names, address, phone number, email address, and wedding date. Instead of having to pull out a pen every time, just stick one of your labels on their forms or ballots and you’re all set!

5. ASK A LOT OF QUESTIONS
The wedding show is a perfect opportunity to get as much information as you can to help you plan your big day. Take the time to meet with the experts and ask important questions regarding budget, decor ideas, and planning tips. Get all your answers answered by preparing a list of questions beforehand and have them readily available when visiting each booth.

6. TAKE NOTES
Be sure to bring a notepad and pen to write down all the useful tips and trends you’re picking up at the wedding show.  You should make a list of all your new preferred vendors worth checking out after the show. If you’ve booked a couple of consultations, be sure to  write yourself a quick reminder of the date, time and location. With so many different vendors and suppliers you’re visiting, you want to stay organized and on top of everything you learned. Also, don’t forget to bring a big bag, you’ll need them to carry all the promotional items and give-aways!

7.  SHARE YOUR VISION
It doesn’t hurt to bring swatches of your event colours or photos of your dress and decor inspiration to share with the vendors. They’re all there to share with you how they can play a role to transform your wedding vision to reality. The more you have for them, the more they can share with you how they can make it all happen.

8. BRING YOUR FIANCÉ
As much fun as it is to spend the entire day with your maid of honour and bridal party planning your big day, it’s important to have your fiancé there, especially if you need to make a major wedding decision on the spot. Your husband-to-be may have questions or concerns that you may have not considered, and should have a say when planning out the big day, Remember, a wedding should represent both the bride and groom’s personalities and styles.

9. ENTER EVERYTHING
Wedding shows are well-known for their many contests and give-aways, so take advantage of them! You can save a pretty penny with a lot of the great prizes such as service gift-cards, honeymoon retreats and even an exclusive stage-decor package from Events by Emma (visit eventsbyemma.com for more information).

10. DRESS COMFY
Last but not least, dress comfortably! The wedding show is not the place to show off your favourite pair of stilettos, so pull out your most comfy pair of shoes and prepared to spend the day walking around and taking in as much as you can. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to leave your bulky jacket at home and dress a little bit lighter to avoid having to carry it around.

Good luck, and be sure to visit us this weekend at Booths 805 and 904!
